Contra Dancing in Rossford -- Lots of Fun!

We went to Rossford, Ohio, last night to do some contra dancing. We don't get to do this very often. Usually, if we're going to dances, we're playing for them - not dancing! It proved to be a very fun time, though. There were 60+ dancers. The caller was Barry Dupen from Indiana, and the band was the Root Cellar String Band, from Ohio. I'm loading a video separately to Facebook showing the dancers doing "Symmetrical Force".  I can't seem to get this blogger to load videos very well. Many of the dancers were new, so this shows that even if you've never danced before, you can do it.

Here are several still photos of the dance, though.

This Friday, we'll be going to Concourse Hall in Ann Arbor for the new "Dance Lab". Jim will be one of the callers practicing with the group. See the flyer below.

Saturday, we'll be heading out to Hastings for the Original Dulcimer Players Club meeting. There will be a jam, too. So any level of acoustic musician can come and join in. This is at the Commission on Aging, 320 W. Woodlawn Avenue, Hastings, MI 49058. There will be a potluck at noon, short meeting around 1 and the jam after.
